Ghana’s Black Stars Rank Fifth Most Valuable Squad in AFCON 2023

In preparation for the upcoming 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Ivory Coast, Ghana’s national football team, the Black Stars, has been appraised as possessing the fifth most expensive squad, boasting a collective market value of €196 million. This evaluation stems from Bettingsites.co.uk in the UK, which compiled player market values from all 24 participating teams.

Nigeria leads the pack with the most valuable squad, valued at an impressive €349 million, largely attributed to the substantial market worth of Victor Osimhen, the prolific Napoli striker, whose value surpasses that of 14 competing AFCON teams at €110 million.

The runner-up in squad valuation is Morocco, with a roster worth €347.4 million, emphasizing the competitive financial landscape of the tournament. Senegal, the defending champions, secure the third spot with a squad value of €274.4 million, while the host nation, Ivory Coast, stands at €334.58 million.

Ghana’s standout player in terms of market value is Mohammed Kudus, valued at €45 million, contributing to the Black Stars’ overall ranking as the fifth most valuable squad at AFCON 2023. The top ten list of the most expensive squads also includes Algeria, Cameroon, Mali, Egypt, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
