President Akufo-Addo has indicated that Ghanaians will soon begin to see the positive outcomes of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) support, with tangible results expected in 2024.
He highlighted that the decision to seek assistance from the IMF is now showing promising results, contributing to renewed confidence in the nation’s economy and bolstered profitability within the banking sector.
Speaking during a courtesy meeting with Bill Winters, the Group Chairman of Standard Chartered Bank, President Akufo-Addo affirmed that “the IMF program is generating favorable results, instilling faith in the economy, and facilitating profitable performances among banks.”
Furthermore, he hinted at an impending meeting with the IMF to discuss the program’s future direction and potential developments.
Bill Winters, the Group Chairman of Standard Chartered Bank, took the opportunity to commend Ghana on the significant progress achieved in recovering from recent economic challenges, underscoring the positive trajectory the nation is currently on.
