Alumni from various Ghanaian universities came together in Accra for a unity health walk aimed at highlighting the significance of collaboration in achieving shared objectives. Organized by the University of Ghana Alumni Association (UGAA), in conjunction with alumni from esteemed institutions like the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), Methodist University, University of Cape Coast, and Central University, the event sought to promote unity and networking among graduates while advancing national development.
The “Alumni Connect,” a 10-kilometer walk, commenced from the UG Alumni Office, guiding participants through key streets of Legon. Madam Doris Ansah, Chairperson of UGAA, expressed the event’s novelty as a contributor to Ghana’s developmental drive, emphasizing its goal to unite alumni from diverse universities for networking and idea-sharing to foster common objectives.
Mr. Francis Dadzie, President of UPSA Global Alumni, advocated for a platform where professionals, not just politicians, could deliberate on national issues and proffer independent solutions toward Ghana’s challenges. Similarly, Madam Jemima Owusu-Baah, a Global Executive Member of KNUST Alumni, highlighted recent initiatives like the KNUST ‘Day of Giving’ and the Endowment Fund, reflecting alumni’s commitment to supporting alma mater projects, such as addressing accommodation challenges by establishing a 2000-bed hostel facility.
