The Government of Ghana has officially confirmed that the long-awaited 24-hour economy initiative will be launched on Wednesday, July 2, 2025.

Presidential Advisor Goosie Tanoh made the announcement during the presentation of the final policy document to the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, on Thursday, June 26.

The 24-hour economy, a flagship campaign promise of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) during the 2024 elections, is designed to combat unemployment, increase productivity, and stimulate continuous economic activity across key sectors.

Tanoh outlined the policy’s foundation on three core pillars: transforming production systems, improving supply chains and market access, and enhancing human capital. These are supported by eight strategic sub-programmes, including:

Grow24 – modernising agriculture
Make24 – driving industrial and manufacturing growth
Connect24 – strengthening logistics and supply chains
Aspire24 – cultivating a productivity-driven national mindset

The policy also integrates digital skills training into Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programmes, preparing young Ghanaians for emerging opportunities in the digital economy. Another component, Show Ghana, seeks to boost tourism and cultural exports.

Speaker Bagbin welcomed the initiative but stressed the need for legislative backing to ensure the policy’s sustainability. He encouraged the 24-Hour Economy Secretariat to collaborate with Parliament on drafting a bill to institutionalise the programme beyond any single administration.
