Thomas Partey's Brilliant Freekick Earns Ghana victory In Harare As Black Stars Tops Group

Ghana is set to earn at least $12 million if the Black Stars qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Should the team qualify for the Mundial, Ghana will receive $2 million from FIFA for preparation and another $10 million as a participation fee.

This is the minimum amount that all 32 teams that qualify for the tournament will receive from the football governing body.

The Black Stars qualified for three successive World Cup tournament’s in 2006, 2010 and 2014 but missed out on the 2018 edition in Russia.

The four-time African champions are, therefore, aiming to make it to their fourth World Cup tournament.

They will, however, need to beat Nigeria, having been paired against the Super Eagles in the playoffs for the tournament.

‘I Want To Play Another World Cup’ – Asamoah Gyan

Asamoah Gyan

Ghana legend Asamoah Gyan has said he wishes to feature at the Qatar 2022 World Cup.

Gyan hasn’t played for the Black Stars since the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) and has been blighted by injuries.

The 36-year-old returned to the Ghana Premier League last season after signing for Legon Cities, but rarely played before parting ways with the club after just a year.

Currently promoting his autobiography, titled ‘Legyandary: the story of Asamoah Gyan’, the veteran striker said every player would love to play at the World Cup.

He, however, explained that he is currently not fit enough to play at the highest level, which all but rules out his chances of playing in the tournament.

“Who doesn’t want to play at the World Cup? Every player wants to play at the World Cup,” he said on Citi TV, as quoted by Ghanaweb.

“Yes, I have tasted the World Cup three times and though I would love to play at this year’s World Cup, as I have always said, I am currently not fit enough to play active football but when I Start playing – who knows?”

The former Sunderland and Al Ain forward further revealed that he will be in Qatar for the World Cup as a pundit.

The Black Stars booked their place at the quadrennial tournament on away goals following a 1-1 aggregate score against West African rivals Nigeria in March.
“I shall surely be in Qatar but maybe a pundit or let’s see,” Gyan added.

The striker’s book launch will come off on Saturday, April 30, 2022, at the plush Kempinski Gold Coast Hotel in Accra.

I Have Not Had An Erection Since Awarding Penalty Against Hearts of Oak – Referee Padi

Ghanaian referee Kenney Padi says he is yet to have an erection since officiating in the Super Clash game between Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak in the Ghana Premier League Week 24 fixture.

The Class one referee awarded a controversial penalty to Asante Kotoko which enabled the league leaders to beat their arch-rivals by a lone goal at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

The penalty decision generated a lot of talks and his performance also questioned on the day.

Hearts of Oak reported referee Kenney Padi to the Ghana Football Association over his performance.

Referee Padi in an interview on Wenchi-based Ewiase FM has revealed that he has been hunted by the decision to award the penalty and has not had an erection in bed since then.

“I have not had erection since the day I awarded the penalty against Hearts of Oak.

“Sometimes I get strange and horrific nightmares, I can’t sleep,” he stated.

Meanwhile, the Ghana Football Association Match Review Panel has suspended referee Kenny Padi for the rest of the season after he was found guilty of erring in the penalty decision in the league game between Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko.

Referee Padi was reported by Hearts of Oak for his role in their 1-0 loss to bitter rivals Kotoko in the Ghana Premier League.

Padi gave Kotoko a penalty in the first half, which Franck Mbella Etouga converted to secure the Porcupine Warriors’ victory.

The Phobians insisted it was a dubious call, and they have been proven right by the Match Review who ruled that Padi will not officiate any match for the rest of the season.
