The Ghana Publishing Company Ltd has launched a 24-hour service to enhance production and improve service delivery to the public. This move aligns with the government’s vision to boost productivity around the clock.

The company, known for printing critical national documents such as Acts of Parliament, Constitutional Instruments, and Legislative documents, will now operate a three-shift system to maintain continuous operations.

In addition to the 24-hour service, the company plans to fully implement its Electronic-Gazette system to improve access to government publications. An upcoming Electronic-Shop system will also enable customers to order printing and publishing services online.

Minister of State in charge of Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, who launched the service on March 3, commended the company for leading the way in the 24-hour policy before the government’s official launch of the initiative.

Mr. Ofosu challenged the company to leverage this initiative to enhance its market position by encouraging innovation and effective management. He emphasized the importance of state-owned enterprises (SOEs) demonstrating capacity and competitiveness, rather than relying solely on government support.

“I see no reason why state-owned enterprises, with all the support they can get and the entire government machinery behind them, cannot do better than private entities,” he stated.

The acting Managing Director of Ghana Publishing, Nana Kwasi Boatey, described the 24-hour service as a testament to the company’s commitment to innovation, growth, and excellence. However, he highlighted challenges such as high taxation on imported paper and printing materials, which increase production costs.

He appealed to the government to consider removing import taxes on these materials to make local printing more affordable for businesses, schools, and institutions. Additionally, he called for a directive mandating all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to prioritize Ghana Publishing Company for their printing needs.

The new service is expected to position the Ghana Publishing Company as a leading force in the printing and publishing industry within Ghana and beyond.
