Ghana FA Set To give Women’s Football A Boost After English FA Partnership Talks

The Ghana Football Association is seeking to secure a partnership with the English Football to help develop and promote women’s football in country.

On Thursday, officials from both sides held a second phase of talks via Webinar with the British High Commission in Accra involved.

Extracts of a publication on the Ghana FA website read: ”The engagement is expected to continue in the coming days to secure strategic International partners for women’s football.”

The meeting was held online after a scheduled meeting at the Ghana FA headquarters in May had to be cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The Ghana FA delegation was led by President Kurt E.S Okraku, General Secretary Prosper Harrison Addo and Deputy General Secretary Alex Asante.

Others Madam Hillary Boaten, Chairperson of the Women’s Premier League Committee, and her deputy Rosalind Amoh were in attendance.

The rest were Cleopatra Nsiah Nketiah, Esq. – Attorney/Women’s Premier League Committee/Women’s Club Owner and Barbara Yankah – Secretary to the Women’s Premier League Committee.

The three-member team from the English FA was led by Rachel Pavlou, who is the National & International Women’s Football Development Manager.

Maria de León, Senior International Relations Manager and Siobhan Burke, the International Relations Manager.

British High Commissioner to Ghana H.E Iain Walker and Jasmine Griffiths – Head of Strategic Partnerships and Diaspora Relations were part of the discussions.
