Ghana Aims to Become West Africa’s ICT Hub – Minister Ursula Owusu-Ekuful

During the 12th Information Communications Technology for Development (ICT4D) Conference in Accra, the Minister of Communications and Digitalisation, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to utilizing technology to drive development and bolster economic growth.

Mrs. Owusu-Ekuful highlighted the crucial role of technology in shaping Ghana’s future, noting significant progress in the country’s digital transformation journey since 2017. She emphasized achievements such as the expansion of broadband infrastructure and the implementation of digital literacy programs, laying the foundation for a future where technology drives socio-economic progress.

The minister also outlined plans to position Ghana as the ICT hub for West Africa, citing initiatives like the Mobile Money Interoperability Platform. This platform enables seamless fund transfers between mobile money wallets across different networks and with bank accounts, aligning with the government’s financial inclusion objectives.
