GFA Blocks Sports Journalist Saddick Adams on Twitter

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has stirred controversy by blocking prominent sports journalist Saddick Adams, popularly known as Sports Obama, on Twitter. This move comes in the wake of Adams’ persistent calls for the GFA to address concerns surrounding the management of the national football teams, particularly following the disappointing performance of the Black Stars at the 2023 AFCON in Cote D’Ivoire, where they were eliminated in the group stages.

Adams took to his Facebook page to express his disappointment, stating, “Dear my brother Kurt E. S. Okraku and Henry Asante, by principle, I’ve never been offensive or abused or even tagged the GFA in any post. As a sports journalist, I follow my country’s football just to access information. Whoever is in charge of your official account that has blocked me, without any justification, thank you very much.”

The blocking of Adams has sparked a flurry of reactions on social media, with many users condemning the GFA’s actions as an attempt to silence criticism and evade accountability. Some have gone as far as accusing the GFA of harboring hostility towards those who speak the truth.

In response to the growing backlash, the GFA has yet to issue an official statement explaining the decision to block Adams. However, the move raises questions about the organization’s commitment to transparency and freedom of expression within the Ghanaian football community.
