The Ghana Education Service (GES) has issued an immediate release to clarify public discussions surrounding the 2025 WASSCE results, emphasizing that the performance of candidates is a credible reflection of their academic ability. The communiqué, dated December 1, 2025, highlights key facts aimed at guiding national conversation and correcting misinformation.

According to GES, recent attempts by former Minister of Education Dr. Yaw Osei-Adutwum to attribute the performance of students to alleged poor management practices are misleading. Management urged the public to disregard such claims, describing them as efforts to shift attention away from the former minister’s own shortcomings in handling the examination process during the period under review.

The Service also rejected reports suggesting that allowances for teachers had been cancelled, stressing that such information is false. GES clarified that the Controller and Accountant-General’s Department (CAGD) had already explained the reasons behind the non-payment of allowances for November.

GES further reiterated that it remains committed to upholding the integrity of examinations, noting that stringent directives were issued ahead of the 2025 WASSCE. Teachers or officials found aiding or abetting malpractice were to face severe sanctions, a measure that GES said was strictly enforced throughout the exam period.

The statement also highlighted the heightened invigilation, strengthened supervision, and strict adherence to protocols across all centres during the examinations. These efforts, GES noted, led to the apprehension of students and staff who attempted to engage in malpractice.

Management described the 2025 WASSCE results as a “true reflection of academic performance,” adding that the outcome demonstrates significant progress toward restoring credibility within Ghana’s examination system.

GES assured the public of its commitment to protecting the interests of students, schools, and the country as a whole, vowing not to compromise the integrity of future examinations.
