According to the GES, this adjustment is intended to facilitate the commencement of the 2025/2026 academic year in September, thereby allowing final-year students to sit for their West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) in May/June.

The GES has directed all Regional Directors to relay the new academic calendar to Heads of Schools to ensure its effective implementation.
