Ghana’s Black Satellites faced a crushing 5-0 defeat against Germany in a friendly match on Monday afternoon as part of their preparations for the 2024 WAFU Zone B U20 Championship, a qualifier for the 2025 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Germany took control early in the game, with Ansah scoring in just the second minute. Weiper added a second goal by the 13th minute, and Ansah netted a brace before Bischof scored a fourth goal just before halftime, leaving Ghana down 4-0 at the break.
Despite tactical changes by coach Desmond Ofei in the second half, Ghana struggled to make an impact. Germany’s Komur sealed the victory with a fifth goal in the 79th minute.
This defeat follows Ghana’s 2-1 loss to Switzerland in another friendly match. The Black Satellites will now return home to continue preparing for the WAFU Zone B U-20 Championship, starting on Thursday, October 17, 2024, in Togo.
