The Ghana Police Service has promoted four officers from the Western Central Regional Police Command in recognition of their professionalism, dedication, and outstanding performance in the line of duty.

The promoted officers are Fetus Gameli Kukuia (now Inspector), Christian Asare (now Sergeant), Nicholas Kingsley Amoah (now Sergeant), and Adam Yakubu (now Lance Corporal).

Inspector-General of Police, Christian Tetteh Yohuno, along with the Police Management Board (POMAB), congratulated the officers on their promotions, noting that the recognition serves as motivation for others and demonstrates the Service’s commitment to rewarding excellence.

The officers earned commendation following their critical role in the arrest of three armed suspects, Hakeem Imoro, Imoro Tahiru, and Nurideen Wahab, at the Bawdie Barrier near Wassa Akropong on April 30, 2025. The arrests occurred just one day after five individuals were murdered at Asiyaw near Nsawam.

The suspects, who were traveling on a Grand Bird Bus with registration number AS 4431 22, were intercepted and searched by the officers. A submachine gun and 21 rounds of ammunition were recovered from Hakeem Imoro.

During interrogation, Imoro linked the weapon to his employer, Samuel Atsu Forson, also known as Alanyo, who had already been arrested in connection with the Asiyaw murders.

Investigations have confirmed that the suspects were attempting to flee and are directly tied to the killings.
