The former Managing Director of SIC Insurance Company Limited, Ms. Hollistar Duah-Yentumi, has filed a lawsuit against the company and its newly appointed MD, James Agyenim-Boateng, over what she claims is an unlawful termination of her contract.

Background of the Case

On January 27, 2025, President John Dramani Mahama announced Mr. Agyenim-Boateng as Ms. Duah-Yentumi’s replacement. However, in a February 4 lawsuit, she rejected the appointment, insisting that her contract was still valid.

According to her, the employment agreement guaranteed a four-year tenure ending January 1, 2028, unless otherwise determined by SIC’s Board of Directors or the company’s shareholders at an Annual General Meeting (AGM).

Legal Claims

Ms. Duah-Yentumi contends that:

  • The termination of her employment violates the terms of her employment contract.
  • The appointment of James Agyenim-Boateng as MD is unlawful.
  • She is entitled to her full salary and benefits for the remaining period of her contract.
