Former President Kufuor’s Escort Officer Dies in Road Accident

General Sergeant Bismark Frempah, 38, who served as an outrider for former President John Agyekum Kufuor, tragically lost his life in an accident on the Bolgatanga-Tamale Road.

Frempah, riding a Police Service Motorbike with registration number AS 8297 22, collided with a Toyota Sienta vehicle registered as AS 5979 21 near the outskirts of Gbimsi Village, close to Savelugu.

The vehicle was driven by 34-year-old Francis Baba, who had five passengers on board.

“On May 30, 2024, around 4:45 PM, General Sergeant Bismark Frempah, an outrider for former President Kufuor, was riding from Bolgatanga towards Tamale. Near Gbimsi village, he collided with a Toyota Sienta driven by Francis Baba, who was traveling from Tamale to Bolgatanga with five passengers,” stated the police.

The accident resulted in Frempah’s immediate death, while the driver and passengers of the Toyota Sienta were unharmed.

A police team led by ASP Mr. W Fuseini arrived at the scene and transported Frempah’s body to the Tamale Teaching Hospital, where Dr. Mohammed Wumpini confirmed his death.

The body has been kept at the hospital morgue for preservation and autopsy. Meanwhile, the driver has been detained to assist with investigations, and both vehicles involved in the accident have been impounded for further examination.
