Ernestina Naadu Mills, the widow of the late former President Prof. John Evans Atta Mills, paid a courtesy visit to President John Dramani Mahama on Saturday, January 18, 2025.
The visit, which took place at the residence of the first family, was to congratulate President Mahama on his recent election and inauguration as President of Ghana.
Mrs. Mills was warmly received by President Mahama, First Lady Lordina Mahama, and their son, Sharaf Mahama, in a meeting that symbolized a continuation of the camaraderie shared during their time in office.
Since the passing of her husband on July 24, 2012, Naadu Mills has remained an influential figure in Ghanaian public life, actively championing causes related to education and social welfare.
President Mahama, who served as Vice President under the late Atta Mills from January 2009 until his untimely death, has often acknowledged the mentorship and leadership of his predecessor. Following Mills’ death, Mahama was constitutionally sworn in as President and later secured his first full term in the 2012 elections.
The meeting highlighted the enduring legacy of mutual respect and collaboration between two key figures in Ghana’s recent political history, offering a moment of reflection on their shared contributions to national development.
