
The Kibi Magistrate Court in the Abuakwa South Municipality of the Eastern Region has granted bail to five individuals arrested for allegedly impersonating officers of the National Anti-illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS).
The court, presided over by Her Worship Juliet Osei-Duedo, approved a bail application filed by lawyers for the accused persons on Wednesday, January 7, 2026.
The suspects, identified as Paul Agbenu, Moses Dablam, Christopher Amakor, Casmir Nunekpeku and Wisdom Miwonuko, were arrested on January 2, 2026, at Potrease near Kyebi. They are alleged to have falsely presented themselves as officials of NAIMOS.
The five pleaded not guilty to four counts, including conspiracy to commit extortion, extortion and falsely pretending to be public officers.
Following their plea, the court admitted each of the accused persons to bail. As part of the bail conditions, each suspect is required to provide two sureties. One of the sureties must be a government salary worker earning between GH¢3,000 and GH¢4,000 per month.
Additionally, all sureties are required to deposit their national identification cards with the court registry.
The case has been adjourned to a later date as investigations continue.
