Facebook Changes Name To Meta!!!!!

As reported earlier, the last couple of weeks, the internet has been raging about the name change for Facebook and now it’s finally here!

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced that the social networking giant will change the name of its holding company to Meta.

Zuckerberg made the announcement at Facebook’s annual conference – Connect – on Thursday.

“From now on, we’re going to be the metaverse first. Not Facebook first,” Zuckerberg said in his keynote according to The Washington Post. “Facebook is of for the most used products in the world. But increasingly, it doesn’t encompass everything that we do. Right now, our brand is so tightly linked to one product that it can’t possibly represent everything we are doing,” he added.

“We are a company that builds technology to connect. Together, we can finally put people at the center of our technology. And together, we can unlock a massively bigger creator economy,” Zuckerberg said.

The company’s corporate structure will not be changing, wrote Zuckerberg in a blog post, but how it reports financial results will. “Starting with our results for the fourth quarter of 2021, we plan to report on two operating segments: Family of Apps and Reality Labs. We also intend to start trading under the new stock ticker we have reserved, MVRS, on December 1. Today’s announcement does not affect how we use or share data.”

The name change is coming on the heels of a public relations crisis the company has been facing following the leak of internal documents by a whistleblower.

Donald Trump

@HuffPost reports, during an interview with FOX News following the confirmation that Elon Musk was officially the new owner of Twitter, Donald Trump assured his fanbase that despite the new ownership he will not be returning—choosing instead to use his own Truth Social platform that was launched back in February. “I am not going on Twitter, I am going to stay on Truth,” he said, before adding that he thinks that Elon Musk will likely “make improvements” to Twitter and stated that [Musk is] a “good man, but I am going to be staying on Truth.”

Trump wasn’t done with his comments and also took the time to claim that his platform is doing better than Twitter:

“We’re taking in millions of people, and what we’re finding is that the response on Truth is much better than being on Twitter. Twitter has bots and fake accounts, and we are doing everything we can. The bottom line is, no, I am not going back to Twitter. We want liberty and justice and fairness in our country, and the more we can have open, the better. I don’t view that [Musk’s Twitter] as a competition for what I am doing.”

As we previously reported earlier today, after weeks of intense speculation, it was finally made official that Elon Musk would be the new owner of the company after purchasing it for $44 billion.

TikTok & Netflix Suspends Services In Russia Amid The Ongoing Invasion Of Ukraine–TikTok Suspends New Content & Live Streaming Due To New ‘Fake News’ Law

The list of companies that have suspended their services in Russia continues to grow. On Sunday, TikTok and Netflix joined the list. TikTok has not completely suspended the use of their app, but only certain features. While a rep for Netflix has confirmed that the streaming service has been suspended in Russia.

According to NBC News, on Sunday, TikTok announced, that they have suspended new content and live streaming abilities on their platform in Russia. The suspension is due to Russia’s new “fake news” law, which has now made it an offense to “disseminate what it described as ‘fake’ information about the country’s armed forces.” TikTok said in a statement, “In light of Russia’s new ‘fake news’ law, we have no choice but to suspend live streaming and new content to our video service in Russia while we review the safety implications of this law.”

They continued to say, “Our in-app messaging service will not be affected. We will continue to evaluate the evolving circumstances in Russia to determine when we might fully resume our services with safety as our top priority.”
