The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has dismissed media reports suggesting that Kevin Okyere, Chief Executive Officer of Springfield Energy, was arrested or detained in Dubai.
In a statement released on Sunday, November 2, 2025, EOCO described the publication by Norvanreport.com as “false and misleading,” urging the public to disregard it.
The agency clarified that two separate investigations involving Springfield Energy are ongoing — one based on a petition filed against the company and another concerning a dispute between Springfield Energy and the Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company (BOST).
“It is the policy directive of EOCO’s leadership that investigations must precede arrest, not the reverse,” the statement emphasised, noting that the BOST-Springfield case is being prioritised due to its potential implications for national finances.
EOCO criticised Norvanreport.com for failing to verify the information before publication, adding that while the agency typically refrains from commenting on active investigations, the false nature of the report required clarification.
“The Office wishes to state that no such arrest has occurred, and it is regrettable that Norvanreport.com did not seek verification before publishing,” EOCO stated.
The Office reaffirmed its commitment to professionalism, transparency, and due process in the investigation of economic and organised crimes, assuring the public that both cases involving Springfield Energy are being handled with diligence.
EOCO concluded by urging Ghanaians to disregard the misleading publication and remain confident in its ongoing investigative work.
