Electric Buses Promised by Dr. Bawumia Arrive in Ghana

Ghana’s Vice President and NPP flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has delivered on his promise to bring electric buses to the country. The arrival of this eco-friendly fleet marks a significant step in Ghana’s transition to sustainable public transportation. The buses are a part of the government’s plan to reduce carbon emissions, supporting global efforts to tackle climate change and improve air quality, especially in urban areas.

Manufactured by top companies in the electric vehicle industry, these buses come with advanced features to ensure comfort, efficiency, and safety for passengers. Initially, the buses will operate in Ghana’s busiest cities, such as Accra and Kumasi, where pollution from fossil fuel-powered vehicles is most severe. Officials from the Ministry of Transport are optimistic that the initiative will provide cleaner, more dependable public transport and inspire private transport operators to adopt greener options.

The government is also working to establish a network of charging stations across the country, laying the foundation for future electric vehicle infrastructure. The public has responded positively, with many hopeful that the electric buses will ease challenges within the public transport sector and reduce Ghana’s reliance on imported fuel, potentially leading to lower transportation costs over time.
