Assin Central’s Member of Parliament, Kennedy Agyapong, has refuted claims that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has lost its connection with the Ashanti Region, a key stronghold for the party.
He asserted that the enthusiastic reception for NPP’s presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, during a recent visit to the region, is evidence of the party’s sustained popularity.
While speaking to traders at Kejetia Market, Mr. Agyapong encouraged residents of the Ashanti Region to cast their votes overwhelmingly for Dr. Bawumia, stressing that the NPP continues to be the party focused on Ghana’s progress.
He pointed to the successes of the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia administration, such as the implementation of the free Senior High School (SHS) policy, which has helped numerous students.
Agyapong, both a businessman and politician, warned against considering the National Democratic Congress (NDC) as an alternative, labeling them as “dangerous.”
He urged people to remember the NDC’s track record and not to be swayed by empty promises.
“As someone who understands both business and politics, I acknowledge the current hardships. However, when voting, recognize that the NDC is not a viable option; they are very dangerous,” Agyapong cautioned.
He added, “When free SHS was proposed, it was 38 cedis. Under the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia government, we’ve not only covered fees but also provided uniforms for your children. Even in developed countries, governments don’t buy uniforms for students. I encourage everyone to support Bawumia, as even developed nations are facing economic crises, and we must not be misled by past governance failures.”
