The Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana has assured that all ballot papers and biometric verification devices for the upcoming December 7 election will be deployed nationwide by the close of this weekend.
Chairperson of the EC, Jean Mensa, disclosed during a meeting with the National Elections Security Taskforce that ballot papers have already been delivered to 13 regions, with only the Northern, Bono, and Bono East regions pending.
“As we speak, all our registers have been prepared and disseminated across the country. We are also near completion with our ballots for the presidential and parliamentary polls,” she stated.
She further confirmed that ballot papers for the remaining three regions would be transported to police armouries by the end of the day.
The EC highlighted its readiness for the elections and reiterated its commitment to ensuring a smooth and transparent process.
Additionally, the head of the National Elections Security Taskforce, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, pledged the security agencies’ commitment to safeguarding the electoral process.
“In our readiness, we want to say that we will protect every Ghanaian and every stakeholder in this election to ensure that the election is executed to the benefit of Ghanaians and to ensure peace,” Dr. Dampare said.
With these assurances, both the EC and security agencies are confident in their preparations to deliver a credible and peaceful election.
