The Vice President of Ghana, Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has commended the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission-Ghana for its significant contributions to education, health, and national peace and development. He made these remarks at the opening ceremony of the 91st Annual National Convention (Jalsa) and the celebration of 100 years of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission-Ghana in Gomoa Pomadze near Winneba Junction.
The 91st Convention (Jalsa), held under the theme “A Century of Islamic Revival in Ghana,” began on February 22 and will conclude on February 24. The Vice President was accompanied by Mrs. Justina Marigold Assan, Central Regional Minister, Mr. Alexander Afenyo-Markin, Majority Leader, Mr. Asamoah Boateng, Minister for Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Ministers of State, and other dignitaries. The event was attended by members of the Mission from the 16 regions of Ghana, as well as from Nigeria, Ivory Coast, Benin, Togo, Italy, and Uganda.
Dr. Bawumia praised the Ahmadiyya community for its 100 years of promoting universal brotherhood in Ghana in accordance with the values of Islam. He highlighted the community’s efforts in spreading the message of Islam Ahmadiyya and emphasized the importance of living in accordance with the teachings of the Holy Quran and the Sunnah of the Holy Prophet Mohammed.
Maulvi Naeem Ahmad Cheema, Missionary in charge of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission, Ghana, recounted the Mission’s humble beginnings in Ghana a century ago by revered Missionary Maulana Abdul-Raheem Nayyar. He expressed gratitude to Allah for the progress the community has made and urged Muslims, especially the youth, to embody the true meaning of Islam, which is peace.
He highlighted the significant contributions of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community to the development of Ghana in various spheres of life, including service to humanity. The celebration of 100 years serves as a reminder of the devotion and sacrifices of the early pioneer missionaries, inspiring the community to continue its positive impact on society.
