Deputy Finance Minister John Kumah Dies at 45

The sudden demise of Deputy Finance Minister and Member of Parliament for Ejisu, John Kumah, has left the nation mourning. Sources close to the family confirmed to Citi News that the 45-year-old MP passed away after a brief illness, leaving behind a wife and six children.

John Ampontuah Kumah, affectionately known as Lawyer John Kumah, was revered by his constituents for his integrity and commitment to job creation, inspiring hope in both the young and old. His legacy in public service and entrepreneurship is marked by a remarkable dedication to improving the lives of Ghanaians.

Before entering politics, Kumah made significant contributions to the private sector as the founding Managing Director of Majak Associates Ltd, a prominent building and construction firm with projects across Ghana. Later, he founded Aduaprokye Chambers, serving as its Managing Partner.

In 2017, Kumah was appointed CEO of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP), where he spearheaded initiatives that trained thousands of start-ups and facilitated job creation for Ghana’s youth. His leadership earned him recognition as the most Efficient, Prominent Government Appointee in 2018 and a place among President Akufo Addo’s top 20 Most Humble and Respectful Appointees in 2019.

A dedicated member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kumah contributed to the party’s growth from the grassroots level since 1992. He was a founding member of the Young Patriots, a youth political activist group within the NPP, and served on the party’s Communication Team.
