Daddy Lumba Goes Home Today After Months of Family Dispute

The final funeral rites of legendary Ghanaian musician Daddy Lumba are scheduled for today, Saturday, December 13, 2025, at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi, bringing closure to months of family and legal disputes over his burial.

The Accra High Court cleared the way for the funeral after applicants in the prolonged family case failed to raise the GH₵2 million required to sustain an injunction preventing the release of the musician’s body. The court had earlier ruled that failure to meet the financial condition would compel Transitions Funeral Home to release the body for burial.

This decision effectively ends months of legal battles that delayed the burial and caused deep tension within the family of the late highlife icon.

Reacting to the ruling on Friday, December 12, lead counsel for the defendants, Dominic Osei, described the outcome as a major relief for the family, the musician’s children, and his millions of fans across the country and beyond. He noted that prolonged litigation over a deceased loved one only deepens pain and suffering.

Mr. Osei appealed to Ghanaians to attend the funeral in unity and celebrate the extraordinary life and musical legacy of Daddy Lumba, urging all sides to set aside personal interests.
