Tamale High Court orders a fresh parliamentary election in Kpandai after finding irregularities in 41 polling stations from the 2024 polls.
The Tamale High Court has ordered a rerun of the Kpandai parliamentary election and directed that a fresh poll be conducted within 30 days.
The ruling, delivered by Justice Emmanuel Brew Plange, followed a legal challenge to the 2024 parliamentary results in the constituency. The petition alleged significant irregularities during voting and collation that affected the credibility of the outcome.
Former MP and NDC parliamentary candidate, Daniel Nsala Wakpal, filed the petition contesting the election of Matthew Nyindam. He argued that the December 7 parliamentary election was invalid due to irregularities and inconsistencies on FORM 8A—the official Statement of Polls—for 41 out of 152 polling stations.
Wakpal contended that the election was not conducted in accordance with Regulations 39 and 43 of C.I. 127, and that the non-compliance materially affected the results.
He therefore asked the court to nullify the declared results for the affected polling stations and order a rerun.
Justice Plange upheld the petition and directed the Electoral Commission to conduct a new election in the constituency to determine the rightful winner.
