The Amasaman Circuit Court has issued a bench warrant for the arrest of Alhassan Yunus, a 17-year-old herdsman accused of stealing five sheep valued at GH¢15,000.
Yunus failed to appear before the court after being instructed by police to do so. Once arrested, he will be arraigned alongside Mariwan Amadu, the man alleged to have bought the stolen animals.
Presided over by Mrs Akosua Anokyewaa Adjepong, the court adjourned the case to December 11, 2025.
According to Police Chief Inspector Frederick Awuah-Ansah, the complainant, Mohammed Seidu, returned home on July 18, 2025, to find his five sheep missing. A search led to Yunus, who was found with the animals.
Yunus reportedly admitted to the theft, claiming he gave the sheep to Amadu to settle a debt.
Amadu was later arrested on July 24 and admitted receiving the animals but claimed they wandered off while grazing.
After investigations, Yunus was charged with unlawful entry and theft, while Amadu was charged with dishonestly receiving.
