Outspoken women’s rights activist and social media content creator Ekow Black, known in private life as Christford Affadu Danful, has been arrested by the Ghana Police Service following the circulation of a disturbing video allegedly showing him physically assaulting a young woman identified as Racheal.
The arrest was carried out on Thursday, January 15, 2026, by the Criminal Investigation Department through an intelligence-led operation coordinated by the Inspector-General of Police’s Special Cyber Vetting Team. The operation followed widespread public outrage after the video surfaced and gained traction across social media platforms.

In the footage, the suspect is allegedly seen subjecting the woman to physical abuse, sparking intense debate and condemnation, particularly due to his public advocacy on women’s rights and social justice issues. The incident has raised concerns about accountability, hypocrisy, and the abuse of influence by public figures.
Preliminary investigations by the Police indicate that Ekow Black and the victim previously lived together and had a troubled relationship marked by frequent disagreements. These disagreements reportedly escalated from verbal altercations into physical violence.
The suspect is currently in lawful custody and is expected to be arraigned before court to face appropriate charges under Ghanaian law.
The Ghana Police Service has assured the public that it remains committed to protecting victims of abuse, enforcing the law without fear or favour, and ensuring that perpetrators of violence are held accountable regardless of their public status.
