Black Stars and Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Benjamin Asare has received a brand-new Hyundai Elantra from businessman Seidu Agongo, in a gesture aimed at easing his transportation challenges.

The donation follows recent media reports that the national team goalkeeper had been relying on public transport, popularly known as “Trotro,” to commute to training sessions.

In a brief but cheerful ceremony held at the commercial office of Hearts of Oak, Asare was handed the keys to the vehicle amidst excitement and gratitude.

Present at the ceremony was Hearts of Oak Head Coach Aboubakar Ouattara, who commended the media for highlighting the player’s plight. He also urged Asare to make the most of the gift.

“I will tell Asare to use the car well,” Coach Ouattara said. “He should know that he got this from what he does for a living, football. Therefore, he should play to the highest level because Ghana is one of the big football countries, not just in Africa but in the world.”

Coach Ouattara expressed appreciation to Seidu Agongo for the kind gesture, describing it as a morale booster for the player and the team.

Asare has been in excellent form both domestically and internationally. He made headlines during the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in March, keeping clean sheets in Ghana’s 5-0 win over Chad in Accra and the 3-0 victory against Mauritania in Morocco.

He also maintained his impressive form in the Ghana Premier League, keeping a clean sheet in Hearts of Oak’s recent clash with archrivals Asante Kotoko.
