Breaking News: Ghana Premier League clubs want “unattached” Amoako, Acheampong SMOKED OUT of Ghana FA Executive Council

Ghana Premier League clubs are pushing for the removal of George Amoako and Frederick Acheampong from the Executive Council of the Ghana Football Association over non-affiliation, GHANAsoccernet.com Headquarters can report.

Acheampong, who rode on the back of Ashantigold to secure a seat on the 12-member powerful council, has left the the minersafter a two-year stint.

Veteran George Amoako is also unattached after losing his job as Asante Kotoko Chief Executive.

GHANAsoccernet.com can report that Premier League clubs want the two personalities yanked from the Executive Council after losing their positions at their respective clubs.

There is a massive campaign to get them booted out as Premier League clubs insist the role of the two gentlemen is untenable after becoming unattached.

Acheampong, who rode on the back of Ashantigold to secure a slot on the Executive Council, is currently unattached – putting his consistent role on the council under tight scrutiny.

Amoako, also won a seat on the powerful council on the back of Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko.

Premier League clubs are preparing to pass a resolution for the removal of both George Amoako and Frederick Acheampong from the Executive Council, GHANAsoccernet.com understands.

The 18-member group are incensed the Executive Council has become a “refuse dump” and want to take drastic measures to effect changes by holding a by-election for their replacements.

George AmoakoAmoako has been linked with the chief executive role at King Faisal while Acheampong has denied reports linking him with a move to Asante Kotoko.

However, there appears to be lack of clarity on the position of the law regarding the current situation with the closest as captured in the Article 37 (6) of the amended Ghana FA statutes stipulates: In case any of the positions of the members of the Executive Council representing the Premier League, the Division 1, Women’s Premier League and the Regional Football Associations become(s) vacant, the respective entity shall promptly elect a replacement.

Inter Allies vice-president Delali Senaye has given the clearest indication on the thinking among football chiefs in the country.

“Clubs and some administrators in recent times have been having concerns on this issue that when an officer that represent a larger group in such body is no longer attached to that body like the premier league , he will not have the best interest of the league at Exco level” he is quoted by Starr FM

“So for that reason   is either they get attached to a premier league club which won’t be difficult for them   to do   or they should do the honorable thing to   resign that’s the discussions amongst the clubs.

“Personally I think the two gentlemen are experienced enough but looking at where we are coming from and where we are going, it will be in their interest and for football for them to get attached to a premier league club for them to serve the interest of the larger body.”

Former Berekum Chelsea President Emmanuel Kyeremeh was an Executive Council member at large for more than a year – a situation Premier League clubs want to change with the debate set to rage on amid the current stand-off.

Football chiefs are demanding the immediate removal of the two personalities- who appear to have  the ringing backing from the current  12-member Executive Council to see out their four-year mandate – but that will not be without a “fight” from the Ghanaian elite clubs.

The battle lines have clearly been drawn between the 18-Premier League clubs and the governing council over the matter.

It appears both Mr Amoako and Acheampong must find a Premier League attachment and fast or risk being booted out of the council amid a torrential pressure expected to explode in the West African nation.
