The Wenchi Police in the Bono Region have arrested a farmer in connection with the alleged murder of his sibling at Amponsahkrom, a farming community within the Wenchi Municipality.
The suspect, identified only as Gadafi, is accused of killing his sibling, Osama, a 47-year-old farmer. The incident reportedly occurred at a shed located on a farm at Amponsahkrom.
According to the Assembly Member for the Amponsahkrom Electoral Area, Felix Gaabanzu, the incident took place on Thursday, January 8, 2026, while the body was discovered the following day, Friday, January 9, on the deceased’s farm.
Speaking to the Ghana News Agency, Mr Gaabanzu explained that the deceased had left home for the farm but failed to return, prompting the community to organise a search. The search party later found his body near a shed believed to belong to the suspect.
He further revealed that the suspect went into hiding after the incident but was later arrested by members of the community at his hideout and handed over to the police for further investigations.
Mr Gaabanzu said the incident has created fear among residents of the Amponsahkrom farming community and appealed to the police to conduct swift and thorough investigations.
He also disclosed that the deceased was buried on Sunday, January 11, in accordance with Islamic rites, and urged residents to remain calm and cooperate fully with the police as investigations continue.
