The Black Queens of Ghana have booked their place at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) after completing a commanding 7–0 aggregate victory over Egypt in the final qualifying round.
Ghana, who secured bronze at the 2025 WAFCON, established an early advantage with a 3–0 win in the first leg in Ismailia, courtesy of a hat-trick from Doris Boaduwaa and a debut goal from Comfort Yeboah.
Preparations for the return leg at the Accra Sports Stadium were briefly disrupted following reports that players had refused to train due to unpaid bonuses. The standoff was resolved after the intervention of Sports and Recreation Minister Kofi Adams and Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Okraku.
In the decisive home encounter, the Queens put on a dominant second-half display. Doris Boaduwaa opened the scoring in the 52nd minute and doubled her tally moments later. Comfort Yeboah netted her second goal in national colours in the 57th minute before Boaduwaa sealed her hat-trick in stoppage time, securing a 4–0 victory on the day.
The emphatic win ensures Ghana’s qualification for consecutive WAFCON tournaments. The Black Queens will now await the group stage draw for the 2026 edition, scheduled to be hosted in Morocco. A semifinal finish at the tournament would also secure Ghana a spot at the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil.
