Bawumia Responds to Mahama’s Five Questions with 50 questions of His Own

In response to former President John Mahama’s recent questions, Vice-President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has released a list of 50 questions for Mahama. Expressing his willingness for a one-on-one debate to compare their records and visions for Ghana, Bawumia described Mahama’s questions as insufficient, adding that he has “more substantive questions” for him to address.

Bawumia’s questions span topics including economic management, social interventions, infrastructure development, and digitalization, highlighting areas where he believes the current government has outperformed Mahama’s administration. Key topics include:

1. Social Interventions:

Bawumia asked Mahama to name any broad-based social policies he implemented, questioning why the former President ran ads against Free SHS and canceled allowances for teachers and nursing trainees.

2. Economic Performance:

He questioned the management of the economy during Mahama’s tenure, specifically addressing challenges like “Dumsor” (power crisis), low agricultural and industrial growth, and the near-collapse of the banking system.

3. Infrastructure:

Bawumia compared their records on roads, hospitals, schools, courts, airports, and other projects, asserting that the current government has achieved more in each category.

4. Digitalization:

Bawumia highlighted initiatives under his leadership, including the GhanaCard, digital property address system, mobile money interoperability, and e-pharmacy, asking Mahama why similar digital measures were not implemented during his time.

5. Security and Services

Questions addressed improvements in national security infrastructure, the National Ambulance Service, and measures taken for vulnerable groups, such as sickle cell and cancer patients.

6. Anti-Corruption

Lastly, he questioned Mahama’s track record on tackling corruption and fulfilling manifesto promises, pointing to unfulfilled pledges from the 2012 manifesto.

Through these 50 questions, Bawumia seeks a detailed accounting of Mahama’s policies and decisions, positioning it as a way for Ghanaians to assess both leaders’ contributions to the nation’s progress.

QUESTIONS FOR JOHN MAHAMA

I have just read questions posed to me by former President Mahama. I would have thought he would be man enough to face me in a one-on-one debate for the Ghanaian public to assess our respective policies, achievements and visions.
