Barker-Vormawor Taken to Hospital Again as Health Worsens in Custody

Oliver Barker-Vormawor, a key figure in the Democracy Hub, was rushed to the Police Hospital on Thursday, October 10, 2024, following serious health issues while in police custody. Barker-Vormawor has been detained since September 23, 2024, after his arrest during the #StopGalamsey and #OccupyJulorbiHouse protests.

A statement from the Democracy Hub indicated that medical personnel are conducting tests to evaluate his condition and determine if further hospitalization is necessary. This marks the second time Barker-Vormawor’s health has deteriorated since his detention.

Despite several attempts to secure his release, he remains the only protester, out of 53, who has been denied bail. The other protesters were granted bail on October 9, 2024.

The Democracy Hub has voiced deep concern over Barker-Vormawor’s wellbeing and is urging the public to keep him in their thoughts and prayers as they await updates on his health.
