The body of an unidentified young man, believed to be in his 20s, has been discovered in a drain at Aboabo in the Asokore Mampong Municipality of the Ashanti Region.
The grim discovery was made on Friday, January 30, prompting concern among residents of the area.
Speaking to Citi News, the Unit Committee Member for the Aboabo Extension electoral area, Sumaila Dauda, suggested the victim may have been lynched before his body was dumped in the drain.
“Someone informed me about the situation, so I rushed to the scene. Looking at the body, it appears the person was beaten to death. The police have since taken the body to the morgue,” Mr Dauda said.
He described the incident as disturbing, noting that similar cases have occurred repeatedly in the area, and called on authorities to take urgent steps to curb such acts.
Police officers who arrived at the scene confirmed that the body has been conveyed to the morgue. Investigations have since been launched to establish the identity of the deceased and the circumstances surrounding his death.
