Kumasi, Ghana – Medical professionals in the Ashanti Region have successfully carried out the area’s first kidney transplant, marking a significant milestone in healthcare and bringing renewed hope to individuals suffering from kidney disease.

The groundbreaking procedure was made possible through a collaboration between the Kidney Specialist Center and HopeXchange Medical Centre in Kumasi. The operation saved the life of a man in his mid-forties, who had been battling kidney disease for five years.

Before opting for the transplant, the patient had undergone dialysis for about a year. Following consultations with medical specialists at the center, he decided to proceed with the life-changing procedure.
