Former Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan has been appointed to the Manifesto Committee for Youth and Sports under the leadership of Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
This appointment comes as part of a significant reshuffle within the NPP, following the resignation of Suame Member of Parliament Osei Kyei Mensah-Bonsu as Majority Leader in Parliament. Mensah-Bonsu has now been appointed as the Chairman of Dr Bawumia’s Manifesto Committee.
Joining Gyan on the committee are several notable figures, including Minister for Works and Housing and Ofoase-Ayirebi MP Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, who will serve as the Vice-Chairman. The committee, which consists of 24 members, will also have sector ministers serving as advisors.
Other members of the committee include veteran actress Juliet Ibrahim for Creative Arts, Dr Assibey Yeboah for Economy, Ingr. Kwabena Agyepong for Works and Housing, and Kwadwo Opoku Nsafoa for Energy and Petroleum, among others.
The announcement of these appointments was made in a statement signed by the Director of Communications for Dr Bawumia’s campaign, Dennis Miracles Aboagye. The committee’s work is set to take immediate effect, signaling a proactive approach to addressing youth and sports-related issues within the NPP’s manifesto.
