Agogo Assembly Member found dead in suspected suicide case

The Assembly Member for the Agogo Apentenyinase Electoral Area in the Asante Akyem North Municipality of the Ashanti Region, Kwabena Osei, has been found dead in what is suspected to be a suicide.

The first-term Assembly Member was discovered hanging from the ceiling of his residence at about 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 7, 2026.

Confirming the incident on Thursday, January 8, the Presiding Member for the Asante Akyem North Municipality, Frank Gyamfi, described the deceased as a young and promising leader in his early 30s. He revealed that he had spoken with Kwabena Osei a few days earlier regarding some personal challenges.

Police have since conveyed the body to the Agogo Mortuary, while investigations are underway to establish the exact circumstances surrounding his death.

According to Mr Gyamfi, although initial reports suggest suicide, the matter remains under investigation and no conclusions have been drawn.
