The lawyer for the discharged third accused in the ongoing case involving former National Signals Bureau (NSB) Director-General, Kwabena Adu Boahene, has clarified that his client, Mildred Donkor, was not involved in the alleged theft and money laundering activities.

Elikplim Agbemava, counsel for Ms. Donkor, explained that the charges clearly indicate she was not among the main individuals accused of orchestrating the alleged crimes. “If you look at the charges, my client wasn’t part of the crime of stealing. Her name only appears in one of the later counts. It’s evident she wasn’t part of the core group that made those decisions,” he told reporters after court proceedings on Friday, October 17.

The Accra High Court earlier dismissed a defence application seeking to stay proceedings in the case. Meanwhile, the Attorney General, Dr. Dominic Ayine, has withdrawn all charges against Ms. Donkor under Section 59 of the Criminal and Other Offences (Procedure) Act, 1960 (Act 30), following her agreement to testify for the prosecution.

A notice signed by Deputy Attorney General Justice Srem-Sai confirmed the decision to discontinue her prosecution. Ms. Donkor will now serve as a prosecution witness in the trial involving Adu-Boahene, Angela Adjei Boateng, and Advantage Solutions Limited.

In her witness statement, she mentioned her long-standing professional association with the first and second accused, whom she met through the Cedar Mountain Assemblies of God Church in East Legon. The case, centred on allegations of theft and money laundering, continues before the Accra High Court.
