Kwabena Adu-Boahene, the former head of the defunct National Security Bureau (NSB), has claimed that GH¢5.1 million currently under investigation was used to purchase vehicles for then President-elect John Mahama during the transition period.
Writing from EOCO custody, where he is on remand, Adu-Boahene outlined what he described as Special Operations expenses carried out in the immediate aftermath of the elections.
Now facing charges of theft and causing financial loss to the state, he denied any wrongdoing, insisting all expenditures were approved and served national security purposes. “I am not a thief. All funds were spent in good faith and in service of the Republic,” he wrote.
He added that the vehicle procurement was done under urgent and classified orders to support the logistical needs of the incoming President and his administration.
