Fix The Country activist Ralph St. Williams has reportedly been arrested following a confrontation with Nhyiaeso Member of Parliament, Hon. Stephen Amoah, during the reading of the 2025 budget statement in Parliament.
According to reports and videos circulating, the activist approached the MP while he was making his way into Parliament and began questioning him about issues affecting his constituency. Williams, who recorded the encounter, criticized the MP for alleged neglect of developmental projects in Nhyiaeso, citing poor roads and unfavorable living conditions.
The confrontation quickly gained attention, with Williams insisting he was exercising his right as a citizen to demand accountability. However, hours after the budget reading, police detained him, allegedly following a complaint by the MP.
In a video shared on social media, Williams is seen being transported in what appears to be a police vehicle. He accused Amoah of orchestrating his arrest to silence public criticism. “I have given my piece of advice as a citizen, not a spectator,” he stated in response to critics.
Supporters of Fix The Country, a movement advocating for better governance and accountability in Ghana, have since condemned the arrest, calling it an attack on free speech.
