Accra Rainstorm: One Injured, Multiple Vehicles Damaged as Massive Tree Fell on them

During a rainstorm preceding Monday’s heavy downpour, a serious incident unfolded in Cantonments, Accra, resulting in one person being injured and multiple vehicles destroyed.

Reports indicate that a massive tree fell on a motorbike and a vehicle, leading to the injury of the motorbike rider, who was rushed to the police hospital in Osu for urgent medical attention.

The chaotic scene unfolded as the motorbike rider attempted to avoid the falling tree but was struck on the lower limb by the descending trunk.

Fortunately, a military man caught in the chaos escaped unharmed.

The driver of the vehicle, also a military personnel, miraculously emerged safe and unscathed from the incident.

However, the aftermath of the fallen tree caused significant disruptions in traffic flow, with drivers hesitating to use the affected road.

Dr. Kingsford Adams, the Director for Parks and Gardens, confirmed the details of the accident to the media.

He highlighted that in addition to the incident in Cantonments, around the Kotoka International Airport, approximately six vehicles suffered damage due to fallen trees. Vehicles parked near the Landing Restaurant were also affected as trees collapsed onto them.
