This statement has got a lot of people talking, bringing the issue of gender roles. Some people had the notion that in the African context it is not right for a woman to buy a ring and propose her man. This will only mean that she’ll turn to ‘head’ affairs of the home which should not be so.
Some also said in a generation were people are fighting for equality in gender roles, there is nothing wrong with what he said.
