Nigeria and Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman has been named the 2024 Confederation of African Football (CAF) Men’s Player of the Year.
The announcement was made on Monday at a ceremony in Marrakech, Morocco, where CAF praised Lookman’s exceptional achievements, stating, “When the stars align, they spell Ademola Lookman. Ladies and gentlemen, your Men’s Player of the Year!”
Lookman’s stellar performance in the 2023/24 Europa League final, where he scored a hat trick to secure Atalanta’s first-ever European title, was a defining moment in his career. This victory marked only the second major trophy in Atalanta’s 117-year history.
The 27-year-old forward ended the season with 17 goals and 10 assists in 45 matches across all competitions, solidifying his reputation as one of Africa’s finest footballers.
Women’s Awards and Other Highlights
Zambian striker Barbra Banda also made history by becoming the first Zambian to win the CAF Women’s Player of the Year Award.
