Kasoa Ritual Killing: 18-Year-Old Suspect Sentenced to Life in Prison

Nicholas Kini, an 18-year-old suspect involved in the 2021 ritual killing of a 10-year-old boy in Kasoa, has been sentenced to life in prison by the High Court. Kini, along with a co-accused who was 15 years old at the time, was found guilty of murder and conspiracy to commit murder.

The gruesome incident occurred when the two teenagers, influenced by a video from a spiritualist promising wealth in exchange for human blood, lured the young victim, Ishmael Abdallah, to an uncompleted building under the guise of playing a game. The victim was brutally attacked with a stick and cement blocks before being buried alive.

While Kini has been sentenced to life, the younger co-accused has been referred to a juvenile court for sentencing due to his age at the time of the crime. The trial, which spanned three years, included testimonies from the victim’s family, investigators, and pathologists, who all contributed to the prosecution’s successful case against the two teens.
