Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has announced a 26-man squad for the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Angola and Niger. The qualifiers are scheduled for early next month, with the team set to begin preparations on Monday, September 2, 2024.
The Black Stars are set to play their first match against Angola on September 5 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi, followed by a match against Niger on September 10 in Berkane.
The squad includes key players such as Thomas Partey, Kudus Mohammed, Jordan Ayew, Lawrence Ati-Zigi, and Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, reflecting a stable core with no significant surprises. Returning to the squad after missing previous matches are Kingsley Schindler, Inaki Williams, and Majeed Ashimeru. Frederick Asare of Asante Kotoko is the only home-based player selected.
Notably, Captain Andre Ayew and Daniel Amartey have been left out of the squad after missing the last two games against Mali and the Central African Republic.
The Black Stars are looking to build on their recent successes, having achieved back-to-back wins in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Mali and the Central African Republic during their last gathering in June.
