Minority Boycotts 2024 SONA Over BOG Governor’s “Hooligan” Comment

The Minority in Parliament has decided to boycott President Akufo-Addo’s final State of the Nation Address (SONA) following the Bank of Ghana governor’s derogatory remark describing the caucus as “hooligans.”

The boycott is also in protest of the President’s failure to sign the anti-witchcraft bill into law.

Scheduled for Tuesday, February 27, 2024, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s constitutionally mandated address, as stipulated in Article 67 of the 1992 Constitution, aims to provide an overview of the nation’s current state at the beginning of each parliamentary session.
