President Akufo-Addo Calls for Apology and Reparations Over Slave Trade Atrocities

President Akufo-Addo has made a fervent demand for a formal apology and reparations from the Western world for the atrocities committed during the slave trade era. Addressing attendees at the inaugural Accra Reparation Conference, he underscored the need for Africa to receive compensation for the historical human rights abuses suffered under the hands of slave masters.

Emphasizing the significance of reparations, President Akufo-Addo highlighted the imperative for European countries involved in the slave trade to apologize for the egregious crimes perpetrated against Africans. He stressed that while no amount of money could fully repair the damage inflicted by the Transatlantic Slave Trade and its enduring consequences, it was a critical issue that the global community must confront and no longer disregard.

He urged acknowledgment of the profound impact of the Transatlantic Slave Trade, spanning numerous centuries, and urged the world to reckon with this historical injustice.
