Jay Foley is a renowned Ghanaian radio and television personality, a Voice-over Artist, a Copywriter, and an entrepreneur. He is the founder of The Radio Advertising People (T.R.A.P), a company in Osu, Accra, that is into the production of jingles and radio commercials.

He is a former manager of Bisa Kdei and also an Event Host. He hosted the official launch of the Ghana Music & Arts Awards Festival 2019 and GOWA Awards 2022. He currently works with 3Music Network as a co-host of “Culture Daily,” a morning show live on 3 Music television and Pluzz FM.

Early life & Family

Jay Foley was born in Accra on July 27, 1983, to Mr & Mrs. Foley. His mother is a Fante, and his father is an Ewe but has naturalized into a Fante. Jay grew up in Accra with his two male siblings. He is from Sekondi-Takoradi, Western Region, and he is 40 years old.

Educational Background

He completed junior high at Bishop Bowers school in Accra and proceeded to Achimota School for his high school education. Jay offered a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Ceramics at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. He completed in 2006.

Jay Foley is a husband and a Father. He is married to Josie Ama Foley, who is his first love. They were both in the same church, fell in love, and then tied the knot in 2014. The couple, Josie and Jay, has two kids.

Career

Jay Foley had a passion for music when he was young, so he wanted to become a musician growing up. However, he knew how to play the piano and other musical instruments and became a beatmaker and a voice-over artist in 2005 at the University. On his journey to becoming a professional beatmaker (sound engineer), he decided to go and learn a few things related to the profession from the Legendary Hammer.

After Jay Foley completed University in 2006, he set up his Trap company and continued doing voice-overs, jingles, and beats. He was a good friend of Trigmatic, and through him, he met Jereme, a media personality, and through her, he met Wolfhard Anim (Wolf), a presenter at 4syte TV.

Through Anim, Jay became friends with the CEO of 4syte, Ignace Hego, and the then Marketing Manager of 4syte TV, Mr. Mike, and in 2007, when Wolf got a new job at TV3, Jay was called to come and host the 4syte TV show. He worked with 4stye for nine years while he was still running his Trap Business.

However, through 4stye, in 2010, Jay Foley hosted a late-night show on YFM. He was later made a programs manager and then a general manager. After a few years at YFM, he transitioned to Live FM. He hosted a morning show there and also became the business manager.

In 2012, he was given an all-expense paid trip from Multichoice Ghana to attend the MTV Europe Music Awards in Germany. He is the first Ghanaian personality to cover an MTV Europe Music Awards event. A year later, he got the opportunity to go to the BET Awards 2013 and was again the first Ghanaian Journalist to solely cover the event. In 2015 and 2016, too, he attended the Awards events and covered them.

After all that, in 2018, EIB Network assigned Jay Foley to FIESTA TV, one of their entertainment digital satellite TV channel on DSTV. Mr. Foley took over as the host of Muzik Box on Hitz FM in 2019, and in December 2019, he joined Multimedia Ghana. He co-hosted Prime Morning Show on Joy Prime and joined 3Music Network in August 2022.

He is also the founder and Chief Executive Officer for the Goupe 2131 which has 4 subsidiaries, namely: The Radio Advertising People, Blurr N Focus (a television content production company), Tavern 2131, and 2131 Records (a music management company). He was the Brand Ambassador for Remy Martin in 2016, Brand Ambassador for MTN between 2013 and 2015 as well as the Brand Influencer for Guniness Ghana in 2017.

Jay has had the honor of covering the Black Entertainment Television (BET) Awards on a number of occasions, making him one of the few Ghanaian radio and TV personalities to do so. He has managed music acts including high-life sensation, Bisa Kdei. He has worked for several TV and radio channels including 4StyeTV, YFM, where he rose to become the General Manager of the station and Live FM where he is the host of the Live Breakfast Club, and also doubles as the Business Manager.
