The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has expressed its respect for Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen’s decision to resign from the party. During a press briefing held on Tuesday, September 26, the NPP’s General Secretary, Justin Frimpong Koduah, acknowledged Mr. Kyerematen’s decision but expressed disappointment regarding the lack of prior notification to the party’s leadership before the public announcement.
Koduah characterized Mr. Kyerematen’s resignation as “pre-meditated” due to the way it was carried out through a press conference without prior communication with the party’s leadership. The NPP believes that this mode of resignation suggests that he had made an unchangeable decision to leave the party. It’s worth noting that when the National Chairman, Stephen Ntim, approached Mr. Kyerematen on behalf of the party after the August 26 Special Electoral College, there was no indication from him about resigning, let alone running as an independent candidate.
The NPP recognized and appreciated Mr. Kyerematen’s contributions to the party’s growth and development over the years. Despite his decision to leave, they extend gratitude for the services he provided to both the NPP and the nation.
